JLA BOD Update

With renewed interest in Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Council’s proposal to amend a By-law that would prohibit boathouses on the lake, and in light of the upcoming HBM Council Public Open House on April 21st, regarding this proposed By-law amendment, the JLA Board of Directors held a meeting April 9th to discuss and vote on this.  The Board voted to again support HBM Council’s proposed By-law amendment to prohibit boathouses on the lake.

Public Meeting Official Plan Amendment & Zoning By-law Amendment (Jack Lake Boathouses) 

The Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen will hold a public meeting on April 21, 2022 at 9:30am. to consider a proposed Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-law Amendment under Sections 17 and 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O., 1990, as amended. This meeting is being held in a hybrid format. You may attend either in-person or electronically. 
 
If you wish to participate electronically in real time, please complete the electronic form found on the Township’s website (www.hbmtwp.ca) no later than 12:00 p.m. (noon) two days prior to the scheduled meeting. Delegates will be permitted to speak for 10 minutes. 
 
You will be provided with an invitation to join the meeting using your computer or phone by 4:30 p.m. two days prior to the meeting. If you do not receive your email invitation, please be sure to check your junk email folder. If the email is not in your junk email folder, please contact the Township Office and you will be sent an invitation. 
 
If you wish to attend in-person, please complete the electronic form found on the Township’s website (www.hbmtwp.ca) no later than 12:00 p.m. (noon) two days prior to the scheduled meeting. In-person delegates will be permitted to speak for 10 minutes and will be scheduled at a specific time.  COVID protocols will be in place. Please note that the Council Chamber has very limited seating and there may not be sufficient space to accommodate all in-person attendees. Please arrive no sooner then 5 minutes prior to your scheduled time. 
 
The Municipality is using Zoom for electronic meetings. This meeting will also be recorded and made available on YouTube for public viewing as soon as possible following the meeting. 
 
We encourage you to communicate with Council by forwarding written comments in support or opposition of the application by completing the electronic form found on the Township’s website (www.hbmtwp.ca) no later than 12:00 p.m. (noon) two days prior to the scheduled meeting.   
 
Comments can also be sent via traditional mail to The Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen, P.O. Box 10, 1 Ottawa Street East, Havelock, ON K0L 1Z0. These amendments are specific to lands presently included on Jack Lake; therefore, a description of the subject lands or a key map is provided with this notice.
