JLA Connects Webinar - Lake History

Monday January 10, 2022

We plan to host periodic webinars on various topics, and JLA Board Director Pierre Bertrand will introduce the first of the series!

On January 20th at 7:00 p.m., we will have the privilege of hosting Jack Lake historian Erin Schroeder. Erin is the author of the famous sold-out publication "Our Piece of Paradise: A History of Jack’s Lake”.
Erin will provide an engaging 45-minute presentation on the history of the lake, including stories of generational families. This will bring back memories for the "old-timers” and give "newer” lakers an overview of the long and rich history of Jack Lake. Erin will be happy to answer your questions following the presentation.

A bit of insight into Erin Schroeder:
"I have been teaching at the elementary level in Toronto for about 20 years. I am currently an elementary school teacher, teaching grades 4 and 5. My family has been on the lake since the early 70s, and I have had the privilege of spending most of my childhood summers at Jack’s Lake. Forty years later, I still see many of my childhood friends at the lake each summer. I joined the history book project back in the summer of 2006. I spent ten years working on the project, collecting stories and researching. I learned a lot about the lake and had the honour of meeting many fascinating people.”

The session will be recorded and posted on the JLA website for those unable to attend.
