Greetings Fellow Lakers

Here's an update note about what's going on at Jack's Lake Association.

a)
The JLA Board has reviewed both positive and negative comments sent to us and seen on social media.  We will continue to strive to the best of our volunteer abilities, to remain united and steadfast in our efforts to fulfil our mission to Jack Lake, which is: "We will Conserve our Jack's Lake for future generations, Connect with our fellow members, and take Care of the gift that we all share."

We are always open for comment to the entire JLA Board through JLAComments@gmail.com and contact information for each individual board member is displayed in each issue of Smoke Signals.

b)
JLA is continuing to keep active on several fronts: herbicide use, logging, quarry, Regatta, boathouses, At Capacity, boat wash, geo-cache treasure hunt, Internet service, garbage handling, etc. We constantly seek input, and especially helpers for each of our Teams on these topics.

c)
JLA is also preparing for our Annual General Meeting (AGM) which will be held virtually on Thursday August 26th at 7:00pm ... just before Labour Day long weekend.

In view of the AGM, we would like to announce that 3 board members are ending their terms and stepping down at that time: Beth Brook, Marcine DuBois, and Neill Lanz.

Each of these Directors have served the lake and its lakers with a great deal of time, energy and passion and we'd like to acknowledge their hard work and dedication and thank Beth, Marcine and Neill for making the lake and its environs a better place as a result of their tireless efforts.

As such, we are seeking JLA members interested in running to be JLA board members in their place, and to boost our complement to 12 Directors.  Losing Beth, Marcine and Neill means we are at least hoping for candidates with skills in the areas of accounting, events, and the environment - and of course there are even more skills needed to enhance the organization and we are hoping for people with those too!  Please have a look at the attachments if you have any interest in serving as a JLA Director.

We have seen messaging indicating there may be considerable interest in contributing to run JLA, and we would be pleased to accept expressions of interest to stand for election and a summary of skill/interest areas you would be able to contribute to the organization.  Please see attached our standard Nomination Form and Guidelines and let the Nominating Team know of your interest.

Please stay tuned ... more details to come.

Happy Canada Day and Fourth of July coming up!
